myAIDA Privacy Policy

myAIDA understands that you care about your privacy and how your information is used. This notice describes our privacy policy. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. By using myAIDA, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

What information do we collect?

To get started with myAIDA, we require you to complete registration by providing:

Account Information:

  • Email address
  • Full name
  • Password (encrypted, never stored in plain text)

Optional Profile Information:

  • Profile photo
  • Bio and location
  • Investment experience level
  • Risk tolerance and investment goals

Media & Device Data (Live Streaming & Content Creation):

When you use our live streaming, audio spaces, or content upload features, we may collect:

  • Camera and microphone input: Video and audio streams transmitted during live broadcasts. Access is only activated with your explicit browser permission and can be revoked at any time through your browser or device settings.
  • Stream recordings: If a live stream is recorded (via platform recording features), the recording is stored securely and associated with the creator's account.
  • Device and connection metadata: Browser type, device capabilities, network quality indicators, and WebRTC connection data necessary to deliver real-time media.
  • Live chat messages: Text messages sent during live streams are stored alongside the stream record.
  • Viewer analytics: Aggregated viewer counts, watch duration, and engagement metrics for content performance.

We also collect information related to your use of the platform, including your interactions, content you create, and transaction data. This information enables us to enhance our product and service offering.

How is the collected information used?

We use your information to:

  • Provide personalized AI insights: Your investment profile and chat history enable AIDA to give you tailored insights.
  • Manage your portfolio: Track your holdings, watchlist, and investment performance.
  • Improve our services: Your feedback and usage patterns help us build better features.
  • Send notifications: Price alerts, community updates, and account information via email, SMS, or push notifications based on your preferences.
  • Ensure security: Detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and suspicious activity.
  • Deliver live streaming services: Transmit your audio/video to viewers in real time, record streams when you choose, and process uploaded content for playback.
  • Content moderation: Monitor live streams and uploaded content to enforce community guidelines and applicable laws.

How do we protect your information?

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Password security: Passwords are securely hashed, never stored in plain text
  • Access controls: Only authorized personnel can access some of your data on a need-to-know basis. Your sensitive information is protected with strict access policies.
  • Regular audits: We conduct security reviews and monitoring
  • Secure infrastructure: We use enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure with industry-standard security certifications

Do we share your information?

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share your information with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform, including providers for:

  • Authentication and data storage
  • AI-powered features
  • Email and SMS notifications
  • Payment processing
  • Real-time media infrastructure (live streaming, WebRTC relay, and stream recording)
  • Content delivery and media encoding

All our service providers are required to protect your data and only use it for the specific purposes we authorize. We do not allow them to use your data for their own purposes.

We may also share your information if:

  • Required by law or legal process
  • Necessary to protect the safety of users or the public
  • You have given us consent to do so

What about cookies and similar technologies?

myAIDA uses local storage (similar to cookies) to:

  • Keep you logged in
  • Remember your language preference (English or Swahili)
  • Save your theme preference (light or dark mode)
  • Cache your session for faster loading

We also use tools to understand how users interact with our platform. This helps us improve the user experience. You can manage these preferences through your browser settings.

What are your rights?

Under applicable data protection laws including GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your data (Right of Access): View your profile, chat history, portfolio, and uploaded content anytime. You may also request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify your data (Right to Rectification): Edit your profile, preferences, and content in Settings to correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your data (Right to Erasure): Request account deletion and removal of your personal data, including uploaded videos, stream recordings, and chat history. We will comply within 30 days, except where retention is legally required.
  • Export your data (Right to Data Portability): Download your portfolio, activity data, and content in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Restrict processing (Right to Restriction): Request that we limit how we use your data while a concern is being resolved.
  • Object to processing (Right to Object): Object to processing based on legitimate interest, including profiling for personalized recommendations.
  • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent (e.g., camera/microphone access, marketing emails), you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • Control notifications: Manage email, SMS, push, and WhatsApp notification preferences with granular category controls.
  • Manage media permissions: Revoke camera and microphone access through your browser settings at any time, immediately stopping all media capture.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Where applicable under data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contractual necessity: Processing required to provide myAIDA services you have signed up for, including account management, portfolio tracking, and content delivery.
  • Consent: Camera and microphone access for live streaming, push notification delivery, optional marketing communications, and cookie/analytics usage. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interest: Platform security, fraud prevention, service improvement through aggregated analytics, and content moderation.
  • Legal obligation: Compliance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, or valid legal processes.

Live Streaming & Recording

When you broadcast or participate in a live stream or audio space on myAIDA:

  • Broadcaster consent: By initiating a live stream, you consent to the transmission of your video and/or audio to viewers on the platform. You control when to start and stop your broadcast.
  • Viewer awareness: Viewers are informed when a stream is being recorded. Recorded streams may be made available as on-demand content at the broadcaster's discretion.
  • Camera & microphone permissions: We request device permissions through your browser's standard permission prompt. These permissions can be revoked at any time via browser settings, which immediately stops media capture.
  • No background capture: myAIDA never accesses your camera or microphone without an active, visible streaming session that you have initiated.
  • Third-party media relay: Live streams are transmitted through our media infrastructure partner (LiveKit) for real-time delivery. Stream data is processed in transit and not retained by the relay provider beyond the active session, unless recording is enabled.
  • Chat data: Messages sent in live stream chat are stored and may be displayed alongside recorded content. You may delete your own messages.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion request, personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
  • Uploaded content (videos, audio): Retained until you delete it or request account deletion. Publicly shared content may have cached copies that take up to 72 hours to purge from content delivery networks.
  • Live stream recordings: Retained according to the broadcaster's preferences. Broadcasters may delete recordings at any time. Recordings of deleted accounts are removed within 30 days.
  • Chat and community data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted with your account upon request.
  • Analytics and logs: Aggregated, anonymized analytics are retained indefinitely. Server logs containing IP addresses are retained for a maximum of 90 days for security purposes.
  • Transaction records: Retained for the period required by applicable financial regulations.

International Data Transfers

myAIDA is operated by AIDA Technologies Limited, based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Your data may be processed in jurisdictions outside your country of residence, including locations where our cloud infrastructure and service providers operate.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:

  • Standard contractual clauses approved by relevant authorities
  • Data processing agreements with all service providers
  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest across all jurisdictions
  • Selection of providers with recognized security certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001)

Children's Privacy

myAIDA is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@myaida.io.

Privacy Policy Updates

Our Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. All updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. For material changes that significantly affect how we process your personal data, we will provide prominent notice (such as in-app notification or email) at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of myAIDA after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
