About myAIDA

myAIDA is a bilingual, mobile-first financial technology platform built in Tanzania for a mass-market audience. We operate in a regulated environment with a high bar for data accuracy, security and user trust. The team is small and senior; engineers own features end to end, from design through release and support.

Role purpose

Build and maintain web applications end to end — interface, application services and the data layer behind them. A broad role on a small team: you ship user-facing features, harden what is already running, and hold responsibility for correctness, security and uptime rather than one narrow layer.

What you'll do

• Feature delivery: build responsive, accessible web interfaces and the server-side services and APIs behind them, from requirement to production release.
• Security engineering: multi-factor authentication, role-based access control, session management, per-user data isolation and removal of unsafe defaults — secure coding as routine practice, not a review stage.
• Data work: design and maintain automated data pipelines with validation, reconciliation and alerting. Displayed figures must be traceable to source.
• Quality and operations: automated tests, CI/CD, logging and monitoring, incident response, and technical documentation others can work from.
• Deliver full bilingual parity (English and Kiswahili) across every user-facing surface, with version control over both language sets.
• Work directly with product and compliance colleagues, translating written requirements into scoped, estimated technical work.

Must-have

• 3+ years building and running production web applications.
• Strong in a modern component-based frontend framework and in a server-side language.
• API design and relational database modelling, including performance and query tuning.
• Authentication and authorisation: sessions, tokens, MFA, RBAC.
• Secure coding to OWASP Top 10; version control, CI/CD, containerisation.
• Professional English; working Kiswahili.

Nice-to-have

• Financial services, fintech or another regulated, data-sensitive domain.
• Payment or wallet integrations, including mobile money.
• Working with AI or language-model features in production.
• Data engineering: automated ingestion, ETL and time-series data.
• Data-protection compliance and secure development lifecycle practice.
• Cloud infrastructure and cost-aware operations.

Compliance and conduct

• Secure handling of personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act 2022 (Cap. 44), s.27, and internal security and access-control policies.
• Changes follow a documented change-management and release-approval process for regulated financial services.
• User-facing copy passes internal review before release — no claims or framing beyond what is approved.
• Standard clauses: IP assignment, confidentiality, outside-activity disclosure, personal-dealing and conflicts declaration.
